How to Talk About This Term with Young Children
The moon doens’t have any of it’s own light. We see the moon because it is reflecting light from the sun. When we can’t see the moon it’s because the earth is in between the sun and moon and is blocking all the light from the sun so that it can’t reach the moon. “Did you know that the moon doesn’t have any of its own light!? When it looks bright in the sky it’s because the moon is reflecting light from the sun.”
